Michigan’s Great Lakes and connecting waterways have an abundant smallmouth population, making Michigan an outstanding fishery for smallies. Smallmouth are one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish and a blast to catch on light tackle spinning gear or a fly rod. Peak fishing for smallmouth is May - June, but we actively target them March - November.
